Protect Our Waterways
With the crazy hot weather recently, you and your furbaby (maybe even some brave kitties) have probably been taking advantage of the amazing bodies of water available to us here in South-East Queensland. Whether you love the beach, the Maroochy river, the lakes, waterfalls and estuaries nestled in small areas around our mountains and forestland, you surely have stepped back and felt gratitude for the beautiful landscape. We feel this gratitude as well, and that's why we created Bella and Boots, to protect our waterways and keep them as a clean, fun, and refreshing place to visit.
In traditional agriculture, heavy rainfall, floods, and crop watering in grain farms can lead to much runoff which enters into our waterways. This runoff includes chemicals like pesticides, insecticides, fertilisers, GMO’s and animal waste which are picked up from the soil and run into our waterways. This runoff can have severe consequences for the delicate ecosystem of our oceans and freshwater environments. Bleached and dead coral, disease introduction to sea life, water pollution which can make animals sick and otherwise make our waterways dirty and non-regenerative. Water pollution and disease could make our waterways inaccessible for your pet, leaving them (and you) nowhere safe to go to cool off on a hot day. Luckily for all of us, there are things that can be done to reduce the destruction of our aquatic environments, and you’re doing it already!

Research shows that organic farming reduces the consequences for our waterways. Firstly, without the use of pesticides, run-off is limited and safer for the oceans. Without manmade chemicals flowing into our waterways, waterways are essentially untouched and coral bleaching, disease, and a disruptive eco-system are practically non-existent. The organic farms we work with at Eumundi Meats are making great strides in reducing the impact of agriculture on our Earth. They protect our waterways by ensuring any runoff is as natural as it can be, so when it reaches our waterways it is free of damaging chemicals.
Regenerative farming techniques such as rotating livestock, keeping a reasonable livestock number and using animal waste to support soil health also assists in protecting our waterways.
At Bella and Boots, we do our best, too. Using meat cut offs like the bones and cartilage pieces which are included in our Bella and Boots food packs also helps to reduce impact on our waterways by reducing the amount of agriculture demand and reducing food waste which can also contribute to general pollution. We make sure every one of our footprints is as small as possible, and worth every step.
Our Bella and Boots packs are great for puppies or older dogs, whether they’ve eaten a raw food diet before or not. If you’ve made a new furry friend and want their diet to supplement their gut, heart, dental, coat and skin health, and/or to combat allergies or joint pain, Bella and Boots raw food is an excellent choice for you. You can read more about the benefits of our food packs in our product description or by reaching out online or in-store at Belmondos Market.
