Pet Friendly Eats
Going outside is great for your physical, mental and emotional health. No one would say no to sitting at a cafe, sipping a warm drink and enjoying everything the street, beach or quiet corner has to offer. Maybe you’ve had a long day of shopping, are catching up with a friend, needing to get some extra work done or your excitable pup hasn’t finished reading the morning newspaper.
Taking your dog out for the day doesn’t mean you’re restricted too close to home. Animals are loved all across the Sunshine Coast and there’s plenty of places and people who welcome your pet to their space. If you and your dog are looking for a meal out, find yourself at any of the following places to enjoy the coffee, food and pup-friendly meals.
P.S if you have a particularly adventurous cat who loves to go for walks, they’re welcomed, too!
The Velo Project
The Velo Project is an artisan coffee house in Mooloolaba with a menu full of delicious food and drinks, with the added benefit of being pet friendly. You can enjoy their coffee, smoothies, freshly squeezed juices, avocado toast, eggs benedict and crepes (our favourite) all week between 7am and 2pm. Your dogs are welcome to sit with you outside to see the sights, with the possibility of a treat of their own!
Cafe Vie
If you’re vegetarian or consider yourself a foodie, you should definitely try Cafe Vie. They reimagine foods in a variety of interesting, unique and flavour-bursting ways. For instance, their Malai Kofta which would be great for the cool weather. With locally sourced ingredients, their food and drink are seasonal and delicious. Conveniently located near Buderim’s big park and just a short walk to their shopping epicenter, your dog is welcome to sit with you while you enjoy exciting food. They’re more than happy to house your canine friends and shower them with love and attention, if required (which it always is). You can pop in and enjoy their company from 7am to 3:30pm every day.
Poets Cafe
If you want to feel like you’re on holiday without going too far, you can take yourself AND your pup to Montville for the Poets Cafe. It’s a popular but hidden favourite of the Sunshine Coast, amidst leafy trees and a beautiful converted building. Walk through the door between 9am and 4pm every day to enjoy everything Poets Cafe has to offer. Don’t leave your pet at home and enjoy the sights together.
White Picket Fence
White picket fence in Caloundra is as pet-friendly as they come, with all day (6:30am to 2pm) brunch including overnight oats, bagels and all kinds of coffee, juices, breakfast cocktails and local beer and cider. Your pup is welcome to sit with you outside and enjoy a day out. If you check out their socials, you can also peek Instagram-worthy pet snacks available to make the day even better!
Looking for something a bit stronger than coffee? Both Sunshine & Sons Distillery and Glass House Brewery have room in their beer garden for your beloved pet. Take your dog out for a much deserved date, a relaxing afternoon or check out their weekend events to find something new and fun for you and your furry friend.
Just like dog parks, you should only take your pet out if they’re comfortable. Some dogs are introverts, and that’s okay! Many of the amazing businesses we’ve mentioned above (and so many more!) are also available for delivery. There’s nothing wrong with a day inside, either.
