Catching Up With Our Packaging

Last year, in an effort to continue to reduce the impacts of food waste on the planet AND your wallet, we introduced new packaging. We changed to resealable, thick plastic bags to hold pre-portioned disks of food. This new bag is a step in the right direction for the planet but in the interest of durability and food safety, we couldn't make recyclable packaging. This kind of plastic isn't recyclable yet, so until the recycling catches up with what we need, we need to find other creative ways to keep using these packages past dinner time. Here are some creative ways to keep using our beautiful new bags:

Hold Homemade Pet Treats: Resealable food bags are perfect for keeping those delicious pet treats fresh and ready for your furry friend's enjoyment. Plus, it makes it clear who those delicious treats belong to. Ensure the package is completely cleaned and dry before you put fresh food in there!

Interactive Treat Game: Save money and wastage by not buying any treat games! Create an interactive game for your pet by placing dry treats inside a resealable bag with small holes. Ensure the seal is shut tightly and give it to your pet. Your pet will have a blast figuring out how to get the treats out of the tiny holes!

Storing Pet Things: Keep pet essentials like collars, leashes, and poop bags neatly organised in resealable bags, keeping your space clean and tidy for when they’re not in use. It is also a great option for travel to keep everything dry and in one place.

Homemade Ice Pack: Create a DIY ice pack by filling a resealable bag with water, sealing it tightly, and placing it in the freezer. You can also use gel beads or old peas that you don’t plan on eating. It's great for first aid or keeping things cool.

Marinading: Ensuring you’ve thoroughly sanitised and cleaned the packs, you can use resealable bags to marinate meats and vegetables. It also makes clean-up a breeze, saves room in your fridge and reduces the need for excessive containers.

Home Junk Drawer Organiser: Don't go to KMART and buy dozens of new plastic containers. Tame the chaos in your junk drawer by using resealable bags to categorise and store miscellaneous items like screws, buttons, and other odds and ends.

Waterproof Beach/Pool Bag: Protect your valuables at the beach or pool by keeping them in a sealed resealable bag. It's a simple way to keep your belongings dry and sand-free.

Art and Craft Supplies: Do you have paint pots, coloured pencils, beads, glitter, hooks, thread spools or texters scattered around the place? Keep your creative supplies sorted and accessible by using our resealable bags to keep them all in one place.

It is important to note that whatever you do, the packet should be cleaned and sanitised. Even though our raw blends are human grade and safe for consumption, it is better to be safe than sorry: ensure everything is completely dry to prevent the destruction of whatever you put inside.

These are a few of our clever ideas, but we'd love to hear from you! Now you've been using our packaging for a whole year, what have you been doing with the empty bags?
